Living as One Chosen by God
📖 Scripture: Colossians 3:12 (NLT)
"Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience."
Reflection
At times, I struggle with the idea that God has “chosen” me. Did He handpick me while leaving others out? If He doesn’t show favoritism, how does being "chosen" make sense? But as I reflect on His Word, I realize that being chosen isn’t about exclusion—it’s about purpose.
🔹 Chosen, but Not Exclusive – God’s invitation is open to all, and He desires everyone to come to Him. My salvation is not based on favoritism but on grace. I am chosen because I have responded to Jesus’ call, and now I have a new identity in Him.
🔹 Putting Off the Old Life – Since I belong to Christ, I cannot cling to my old way of living. Sinful habits—like anger, impurity, and pride—no longer define me. God has called me to live differently, reflecting His righteousness in my daily life.
🔹 Clothing Myself in Christ’s Character – Just as I choose what to wear each day, I must also choose to put on Christ-like qualities. Am I showing mercy when someone wrongs me? Am I walking in humility, or am I holding onto pride? God calls me to wear these qualities daily.
🔹 Letting Christ Rule in My Life – Instead of letting anxiety, frustration, or temptation take over, I must allow Christ’s peace to rule my heart. His Word should shape my thoughts, my actions, and even my relationships. Everything I do should bring Him glory.
Application
✔ I will remind myself that being chosen means having a purpose, not favoritism.
✔ I will actively put away my old sinful habits and embrace my new life in Christ.
✔ I will intentionally clothe myself in mercy, kindness, humility, and patience.
✔ I will let Christ’s peace rule my heart and His Word guide my actions.
—not by favoritism but by grace
—and I am called to live in His character every day.
